How to build and get investment for your Social Enterprise!
Hear from inspirational founders and investors on how they got their idea off the ground and navigated early stages, building a team, getting customers and investment. The event will be held under the jacarandas in the green space behind the UQ bus stops (UQ Lakes) – and between the lake with the fountain. The Bloom festival will light up the jacarandas as the sun sets and the social enterprise event will form part of a series of UQ events held during the week which bring ideas to life.
The panel will be made up of Emma-Kate Rose (Founder of Food Connect and Chair of the Queensland Social Enterprise Council), Peter Ball (Founder and Managing Director of Impact Academy and Greater Outcomes), Juliette Wright (Founder/CEO Givit), Sabrina Chakori (Founder of Brisbane Tool Library), Michael Mersiades (Founder of Chatloop, winner UQ’s Young Entrepreneur 2018)

Interns looking for a Startup? Startups looking for bright interns?
Join us at Startup Intern Mixer! ilab UQ is hosting a startup and student mixer event on Tuesday 23rd of October in conjunction with UQ’s Bloom Festival, a festival of light, bringing ideas to life. Startups pitch to students for 2mins on their startup and summer intern roles. Students have an opportunity to mix with the startups, submit resumes to the startups on the night and startups then decide who they want to recruit as an interns for the summer. We don’t presume to know the best candidates for your startups so we provide the opportunity for you to mix with students face-to-face. Over the winter vacation we had 30 startups host UQ students and it has been a program that has grown over the last two years since ilab moved into UQ.
The UQ Summer Startup Intern Program not only offers students a new world of work experience but it may also inspire them to build their own business or social enterprise idea into a startup.
It’s coming soon! 23 October, 6pm at The University of Queensland.
