David Israel, Group Manager, UniQuest Technology Commercialisation
David has been with UniQuest since 2001. He has a diverse background across business, intellectual property and its commercialisation. At UniQuest David has establishing a number of venture-backed, corporate and angel invested start-up companies, including ActiveTorque Pty Ltd, Ausonex Pty Ltd and Imprezzeo Pty Ltd. In the past he has built businesses in environmental control and in online employment services. He has raised venture, strategic and angel investment and guided commercial strategy on a significant number of deals.
Leigh Angus, Program Director, ilab
Leigh has more than 15 years’ experience in marketing and business development for IT companies in Argentina, Israel and Australia. She worked as Business Development and Marketing Manager for WizApp, an Israeli start-up company developing website design applications. She then took up a Marketing Manager role at KP Electronics in the north of Israel, where she was responsible for developing new business, managing partner agreements, and providing marketing support for the dealer channel across Asia Pacific and Western Europe.
In 2004, Leigh returned to Australia to work for Canon Australia as Market Development Manager, where she created industry marketing and engagement programs for Canon’s 200 account managers and national dealer channel. In collaboration with Canon’s neighboring R&D centre, CISRA, and third party software partners, Leigh led a number of successful initiatives to align Canon’s business product and services to major industry sectors within Australia and New Zealand. She is the co-founder of Wizzyboard, a start-up developing technology for augmenting online games and toys to touchscreen devices.
Leigh joined UniQuest in early 2008 as a Manager of Innovation and Commercial Development at the University of Technology, Sydney. She has relocated to Brisbane to become ilab’s inaugural Program Director.
