Digital innovation today is not geographically limited and ilab has some special opportunities for regional startup entrepreneurs to participate in our upcoming seventh Germinate program. !!Applications Closing 10th May!!
If you are from regional Queensland, and have a great idea, based on digital technology, and want to convert that to a validated, scalable business, then you should consider applying to join ilab’s Geminate Program. While it is competitive entry and the program is intense, you will make huge strides in taking your idea into the real world. It does not matter if you are a student, already in the workforce, running your own business, a parent, or a grandparent. It is the idea, its opportunity and your dedication and ability to execute that counts.
Justin L’Houllier, founder of AM Shelfie, from Townsville has participated ilab’s most recent Germinate program. Justin recognised that people can’t easily access 3D figurines of themselves. His solution is to create technology that takes 3D scans of customers, then manufactures and ships out the models. The initial target markets are fitness and body-building industries.
Why Tours from Cairns also benefited tremendously from the program. Sam Dorahy, WNT founder, made more progress in his 3 months with ilab than he had in the 2 years before that.
You will be applying for the 7th intake of ilab’s Germinate accelerator program, and if successful, will tap into a fantastic store of knowledge and people to really accelerate your progress. You will also be collaborating with a range of other ilab startups all building their startup at the same time and leveraging off each other’s progress and learnings. You will have weekly mentoring to guide your progress, regular workshops to up-skill in a topics such as marketing and sales, design, intellectual property issues, technology, legal agreements, investor expectations… You will also receive up to $20,000 in funding to make it all happen.
For startup founders from outside of South East Queensland, ilab support your participation through a combination of Skpe, subsidised travel and accommodation and partnerships with entrepreneurial organisations and mentors local to you.

Another really exciting dimension is the $10m ilab Venture Fund currently being established. The goal of this fund is to make follow-on investments much more accessible to ilab startups.
In return for this intense investment in you as a startup, ilab will be granted an equity stake in your new company.
