ilab UQ is delighted to announce Peter Laurie Entrepreneur in Residence for the Germinate 12 accelerator program

In great news for our new founders, one of Queensland’s most authentic, dedicated, connected and smart startup founder supporters, Peter Laurie, will again be joining ilab UQ as entrepreneur in residence for our upcoming startup accelerator Germinate.

After leading a successful Germinate 11 program, mentoring 11 teams develop their business, their voice and their overall understanding of market, Peter has agreed to provide guidance to the newly announced cohort, Germinate 12.

With a background covering both the business and technical sides of building and growing a startup, Peter can help our founders understand where their priorities lie at their particular stage, what are the most effective strategies for them and to hold them to account in the intense three month Germinate journey.   Along with the ilab team, he will be on hand to support the teams through the highs and lows of the startup life.

Peter is a professional who focuses on the delivery of initiatives to a high level of quality in an effective, efficient and engaged manner.  He is an electrical engineer by training, a software engineer by choice, a business analyst by necessity, and a consultant when required. He has a Bachelor Electrical Engineering, a Graduate Diploma of Computer Engineering, and an MBA that focused on Strategy and Entrepreneurship. Peter runs a small software engineering firm called Junta. Junta focuses most of its energy on developing prototypes and proofs of concepts for people with great ideas or interesting problems. He is also a regular at River City Labs, as a “Mentor in Residence”, a lecturer at UQ Business School and a dedicated supporter of most of Brisbane’s best startup initiatives.

With the Germinate program being open to all industries, the new cohort will cover everything from social entrepreneurship to medtech via web development, data analytics, e-commerce, etc. The previous cohort, led by Laurie, saw a similar breadth of businesses, covering topics like blockchain, circular economy, resources industry and much more with these young companies already achieving great success in the market with growth, revenue and, for some, new hires already on the map.

Welcome back Peter!
